Over our history, Healthy Family Initiatives has served as the gathering place for the community to find lasting solutions for the prevention of abuse and neglect of children, BEFORE IT EVER HAPPENS - and to support families who, through adversity, generational cycles of maltreatment behavior, and inadequate parenting skills, are at risk for failure in nurturing this community’s future generation. One result is a unique program called Healthy Families Houston, led by HFI, then known as The Child Abuse Prevention Network (CAPN).

In the early 1990’s CAPN led an innovative, seven agency collaboration to pilot the Healthy Families program model:
