Nurse Family Partnership

Ranking among our most honorable professions, nursing requires tireless dedication, deep knowledge and a heart for genuine care. These characteristics are especially valuable to young mothers-to-be and families participating in the Greater Houston Nurse Family Partnership.

The goal of this landmark program is to better the lives of children by increasing the health of babies at birth, enhancing parenting skills and improving child health and development, thus reducing the incidence of child abuse and neglect. It places primary focus on quality prenatal care, helping assure full-term pregnancies, healthy birth-weight infants and decreased rates of infant mortality.

Healthy Family Initiatives is pleased to have served as the lead agency for the initial local development and implementation of Nurse Family Partnership, the services of which, in subsequent years, are now delivered through the Baylor College of Medicine Teen Clinics, Texas Children’s Health Plan and The City of Houston Department of Health and Human Services.
